The artwork is about 5 by 7, and the frame altogether is 8 by ten.
"A is for Alice" Everything is designed, drawn and handcut by me (except for 2 die-cuts: the A on the flower die-cut and the piece that I wrote "is for Alice" on).Looking straight on, it may be hard to tell, but, this piece has many layers. The background is a blue layer of scrapbook paper. Then there are the 2 die-cuts at the top: one has the A on it and one has "is for Alice" that I wrote in micron pen. The mushroom and grass I drew with pencil, then lined in micro pen and colored with colored pencil and markers. Then, the A has 2 layers. I drew the caterpillar with pencil, lined with micron pen and colored with colored pencil and markers and glued to cardstock so it has two layers. Same with the hookah, except it might have 3. Alice's tights and shoes are made from vintage book pages and cardstock and 1 leg has more layers than the other for depth. Her dress is made from patterned scrapbook paper and apron from white cardstock, her collar and sash are cut from colored paper adding another layer. Her hair actually has 5 layers, I think. Alice's skeleton, I'm sure you guessed has several layers. Her skull is 2 or 3 more layers than her neck. I had never drawn a skeleton before I started this project, so, a lot of time went into trial and error and practice and doing it over until I really felt good about it.
